19 Months

It was really hard to get Porter to sit down for pictures this month! Since we've done this drill every single month, he knows what to do.  But now he runs to the chair and immediately jumps up and runs back to me, because he wants to see his picture that I've taken.  So this was the best I could get.

He's the sweetest.

Full of energy

Being a goofball.

At 19 months, I feel like his learning has EXPLODED.  He really learns new words daily, and is constantly doing something new.  This month...
- his favorite word to say is "Hank".  He usually says it when I go in to get him up, and he wants to see Hank.  He's also learned from me, and says, "Stop it, Hank!"
- Other favorite words: milk, raspberries, blueberries, fish, ball, outside, mail, flower.  He attempts to say any word we ask him to. He also recently came out with the phrase, "Uh oh, I went poop."  Not my proudest moment. :-)
- Loves to watch Sesame Street in the mornings
- Has a new love for coloring
- His favorite things to do are still reading his books and playing outside.
- Loves his puzzles, and has learned about all Disney characters, modes of transportation, and sea animals thanks to those puzzles.
- Keeps occupied in church services thanks to some flashcards with shapes, letters, and animals.  He loves them!  Thank you Target dollar spot for providing wonderful quiet time because of your flashcards.
- Knows the shapes circle, square, diamond, triangle, rectangle, heart, star, and oval.  I have an app that quizzes him on this, and he picks the right shape every time.  Then he claps for himself.
- Knows about half of his letters.  He picks them out when I ask him which one, and then he can also say some of them when I point to them.
- Learning some numbers...my mom claims that he said 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 to her recently, on his own, and in order.  I'm not sure I believe it. :-)
- It's scary how well he can operate our phones and the iPad.  He scrolls through to his apps, and then picks which ones he wants to play.  I have to hide the iPad from him.
- Loves to sit on the counter when I'm making something in the kitchen, so he can watch.
- Has a strange arm-wave-thing that is his sign for "please". We're not sure where he got this, but each time we tell him to say please, he grunts and does this, even though he's very capable of saying the word.
- Is still the pickiest, most unpredictable eater around. One day he loves something, the next day he won't touch it. We've recently introduced peanut butter since we've had no allergy problems so far, and since the boy needs some good super foods to help us out.  However, one day he loves it, the next he won't eat it.  The only foods he ALWAYS eats are: fruits of all kinds, string cheese, spaghetti, chips, goldfish, black beans, and pizza. He also usually enjoys grilled cheese, yogurt, and quesadillas.  We're trying so hard for him to eat a balanced diet of what we eat, but this is about as good as we can do right now.  Ugh.  What a struggle.
- While mealtime is a struggle, bedtime is a breeze.  He loves to go to bed. Whether it's naptime, or bedtime for the night, all we do is drop him in his crib, and he falls asleep.  He's the best.

I think I say this every month, but this really is my favorite age.  He's the most fun, and keeps us constantly laughing!  I'm so blessed to be his mommy.

Lots of Love,
Beth
