13 Months

I'm a bit behind on here.  What else is new.  Port Port turned 13 months on March 12th, and this month seems like it has more milestones than ever.  First things first...a few pictures:

He's so happy, and getting so big

We've already busted out the summer clothes here.  It has been the PERFECT weather!  I could use this weather year round.

What Port's up to at 13 months:
  • Most importantly, WALKING!  He took his first steps on March 13th, and it was the cutest thing I'd ever seen.  It was soon after I'd gotten home from work, and Jonathan and I were in the play room with him.  He was standing by the couch, and took three steps to me.  ADORABLE.  I laughed and cried all at once, and he was so proud.  We have yet to get it on video.
  • Talking a LOT, most of which we can't understand.  I get an occasional mama now, but his favorite word by far is "light".  He points at lights everywhere and declares, "light."  Also popular...water, diaper, da-da.  The rest sounds like Chinese.  Really.
  • Favorite things: looking at books in his room, playing outside, going on runs in his stroller, patting Hank, kicking Hank out of his dog bed and then belly-flopping on it, eating, drinking through a straw
  • One funny new habit is saying, "Mmmmm," when I open the pantry/refrigerator when he wants something.  He also says it throughout meals when he likes something.  Today at Target, he said, "MMMMmmm," when I put goldfish into our cart.  And also, last week at the vet, he said it when I opened the dog treat jar and gave Hank a treat.  Hahaha...on a good note, Hank's new ACL is doing dandy.
  • Another favorite thing is being held by his mommy.  He would just prefer me carry him around all day.  It's flattering, really, but not so great for getting things done.  I can't resist when he comes crawling up my legs, though.
  • Still has 8 teeth.
  • Moved up to the size 4 diaper.
  • Wears a size 4 shoe, but apparently has a skinny foot.  That was inevitable, considering my feet are skis and Jonathan's are quite skinny too.  It makes it difficult to find baby shoes that fit, though.
  • Has a great routine of getting up around 8, taking one nap around 2 that usually last 2.5 hours, and then going to bed about 8.  I like it, and it's predictable and good.
  • Since we've gone to cow's milk, he drinks it all out of a sippy cup.  At night, he drinks his milk, then lays his head on me and we cuddle.  Then I put him in bed, he rolls over, and goes to sleep.  It's my favorite time of day, because it's the only time he'll cuddle with me (except nap time...he cuddles then, too).
  • Picks up his bath toys when I tell him it's time to get out.  I hand him the toys, and one-by-one, he puts them back in the frog toy holder.  He LOVES bath time still.
  • Has a wooden ark set that he got from his buddy, Will, as a birthday present.  He LOVES Noah and Noah's wife.  He carries them around the house with him, and you can hear him crawling on the hardwood floors while holding one in each hand.  He wants me to tell them who they are, so over and over, I have to say, "That's Noah, and that's Noah's wife."
  • When he hears people laughing, he gives a fake laugh to chime in.
  • Waves hello and goodbye at everybody.  Yesterday we were looking out his window and someone was walking, and he started waving.
I guess that's it for now.  That's quite a lengthy list, and probably the only people who have made it to the bottom are the grandmothers.  But it's all cute to me, so I put it all, so I can remember it later.

Lots of Love,
Beth
