Paradise

We celebrated our 5th anniversary on May 18th, and decided to make the most of it and take a trip without Porter.  We went back to the Dominican Republic, and it was pretty fabulous.  Of course, we can't travel together without experiencing some sort of drama.  This trip, the drama began the first day.  We had a 6am flight from Nashville to Miami.  Long story short, we land in Miami, got bumped from the flight directly to Punta Cana, had to fly to San Juan, computer crash in San Juan, made a lucky flight out of San Juan, almost didn't make it out of San Juan because Jonathan went to the other side of the airport and wouldn't answer his phone, got in a plane with propellers (yikes!), and finally made it to the resort at 10pm.  We were supposed to be there at 1pm.  We were probably a ragged sight when we walked up to the desk in the lobby, so they upgraded our room, haha.  It's over now, but it was a nightmare then.  Just in case you were feeling sorry for us, we did score 2 $500 vouchers with American Airlines...as if we want to fly with them again, or have the vacation time at work for that matter.  And this is what we looked at all week:

It was pretty fabulous.

Before dinner one night.  Our biggest decisions for the week were where to eat.  It was rough.

Dessert one night.  The food was...interesting...
I don't know if my stomach is back to normal yet, actually.

If you all could have only seen the shows at this resort.  They were hilarious.  This night was a Caribbean dance show, basically.  You should have seen this girl's outfit.  It was unbelievable.  We laughed at horrible outfits all week.

We also laughed at people who would take pictures while jumping in the ocean.  So we decided to try it one night.  We weren't good at it.  I looked like a freak.  hahaha.

And we also laughed at what people would wear at the beach, or lack there of.  We could not support what we saw with picture evidence.  It was that bad.  We did see Gran-kinis (grannies in bikinis), and coined that term ourselves.  We may be scarred for life.

Despite the most wonderful time, we have never been more ready to come back from vacation.  We missed this little boy so bad!  This picture was last on my memory card when we left, so I looked at it the whole vacation.  He looks like he is sad that we left him, but really he had just gotten up.  I'm not so sure he even missed us, in fact, because he was spoiled by grandparents the whole time.  Big thanks, again, to them for taking good care of him!

Lots of Love,
Beth
