Pardon the whiny face. He didn't mean it.
There we go...back to smiles.
Hey Mom!
He is learning so fast it's crazy. He has this little magnetic puzzle that has letters of the alphabet and then something that starts with that letter. "Aa is for Apple," and so on. He not only has mastered what all the objects are (butterfly, cat, dog, elephant, etc.), but is also now learning the letters. If I tell him to go get the S, J, O, P, F, or B, he knows them and brings them to me! This blew my mind. We're working on the other ones.
Other new tricks:
- His favorite new thing is to feed Hank his dog food. We go over to the big container of dog food, scoop it out together, and then carry it over to the bowl together. He dumps it in the bowl, and then runs back to the container to get the 2nd scoop. He knows that Hank only gets 2 scoops, so then tries to close the container up after that. He is cackling laughing the whole time this goes on.
- Still fascinated with airplanes, and now cars and trucks. I guess boys just have it in them from the beginning.
- Has a new thing with pulling Hank's tail, and thinks it's the funniest thing ever. If you had told me 2 years ago that our child would pull Hank's tail, and that Hank wouldn't care, I would have laughed in your face. But this has happened. Hank has turned into a perfect companion for the wild and crazy toddler. Porter does get into trouble for pulling Hank's tail though. I don't want to test him too much.
- Port still sleeps like a champ. He usually gets up at 8am, takes a 2-3 hour nap about 1:30 or 2, and then goes to bed for the night between 8-9. It's wonderful!
- He loves all things water. Hose, sprinkler, water toys, bath tub, and swimming pool.
- Has cut all 4 of his 1-year molars through now. Still waiting on his canines.
- Still a picky eater, but maybe getting a little better, thanks to the before-mentioned molars coming through. Favorites: CHEESE, yogurt, all fruit, edamame (weird), black beans, and pizza. And of course all things dessert.
- Can follow simple commands now.
- Learned how to climb onto furniture.
- Likes to "help" with chores.
- Says "mama" and "dada" ALL THE TIME. And I LOVE it! He will point at us and say the name, and then when you ask where Porter is, he puts his hand on his head.
- Ever-expanding vocabulary, and comes out with new words almost daily.
- Knows every animal sound. Yes, I'm pretty sure all species.
The boy is hilarious, and keeps us busy busy. No one told me how fun this stage would be. I do think that at every stage though. But this one really is the best!
Lots of Love,
Beth
